COMMEMORATING WORLD WAR ONE

The Society was pleased to be awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to pay for a series of activities relating to WWI. This funding has supported a rich array of activities as shown below, including:

* Talks: the Society organised a number of talks concerned with the Great War

* Articles and information: the Society has also published a series of articles on WWI in its in-house magazine 'the Almoners Pen'. In addition members of the society visited the nursing home 'ferry view' on Armistice Day to share memories of family members who had fought in the war, and shown mementos and heirlooms.

* Displays of information in St Lawrence's Church, Riverside Shopping Centre and elsewhere. Also, we are pleased to have supported Pershore Arts with their exhibition of artwork at number 8 in Pershore on the theme of 'Wychavon in WWI'. Some artwork from our Abbey Manor displays was included in the exhibition.
